CFTCCO Hosted Gala to Welcome Newly Appointed Consulate Gene |

On March 10, 2012, Co-Federation of Toronto Chinese Canadian Organizations (short as CFTCCO below) hosted dinner gala to welcome newly appointed Consul General of China in Toronto Mr. Li Fang and his wife Lijuan Gao at the Century Palace Restaurant in Markham. CSCMA leaders and Chinese community representatives invited and attended the gala. Over 500 people were present at the gala. The federal, provincial and city government officials and local Chinese community leaders and other VIP guests attended, including Member of Parliament Canada Hon. John McCallm, Minister of Ontario Tourism Ministry Michael Chan, Markham City Councilor Joe Li, Toronto City Councillor Chin Lee, etc.
Chinese Consul General of China in Toronto Mr. Li Fang made speech. He said that he has worked in the diplomatic field for 30 years. This is his 8th oversea appointment, but the first such a grand welcome dinner gala he had ever experienced. Mr. Fang also said that Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper successfully visited China in February of this year; and both countries have achieved desired goals, and created the win-win situation. He hoped that the Chinese people in Toronto continue to make great effort to improve the China-Canada friendly relations.
Mr. Fang also said: Canada is a memorable country. The landscape of the Rocky Mountains is very beautiful. And the local Chinese people are affectionate. He highly praised the Chinese in Canada, who are not only making great contribution in the Canadian political and economic fields, but also to the friendly relations between Canada and China.
